The primaries don’t really meet until an hour into the movie. They bump into each other at the start, but they are at this location to be with other people. Fiona is celebrating her birthday with her aspiring filmmaker boyfriend. Raf is having dinner with his Type-A girlfriend. And on that night, their respective partners break up with them. These partings are depicted as murders, the emotional betrayal visualized as literal violence. Raf is stabbed in the restaurant, and Fiona is beaten and then smothered with a pillow in a hotel room.
It’s an iffy choice that might come off as pretty horrifying. Even though in the context of the story, it isn’t really happening, it plays like real violence…

Really, really messy. And not in the way that makes these characters endearing or energizes whatever story is being told. I know that the film's first half intends for the two protagonists' dating experiences / sexual exploits to come off as episodic and fleeting. But these scenes (and most of the script, really, in my opinion) just can't escape from the clunkiness that so often comes as a result of older people attempting to write younger characters, with the express purpose of "defining the younger generation." This movie wants to come off as hard-edged and /AUTHENTIC/, but in attempting to capture the supposed casual aimlessness of Gen Z and young millennials, I actually feel like A Girl and a Guy…

sobrang haba buti sana kung maayos yung storyline, di mo alam kung san ka dadalhin nung movie dahil literal na walang direksyon andaming side stories pero walang maayos na nailatag na resolution. parang isang scene lang yung may sense and they think it already covered everything lol
